Albert's Story
My Grandfather on my side of the family of which I knew nothing about, as I had to dig up all of his files and records. He was born in 1880, he served out in africa in the second boar war 1889 to 1902 I think, His cap badge states that he was in the border regiment.
Grandfather Albert Richards joined the Royal Army Service Corp. and left England from Southampton docks 1914, for Le-Harve, with the first batch of 3,000 horses of which was needed 136,000 horses. My grandfathers records show that he became a train driver in france, but nothing of what he transported. His reg no: T/16499. He came home in 1918 -1919 as his papers show. His rank was acting corporal, then lance corporal. He also was awarded the three medals for his service.
