George & Joseph's Story

My Grandfather George Blackmore (3rd Kings Hussars) with his brother Joseph (Dorset Regt) & their parents during leave around 1915 in Putney. There were 2 other brothers also fighting, John (13th Batt East Surrey Regt) & Harry (Royal Navy) - their youngest brother Thomas was too young to go. They all survived the war, although some were wounded. But their brother-in-law Percy Challinor (9th Batt Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers) who was married to their sister Emily, was not so fortunate, he was killed on 7th June 1917 leaving a daughter Ellen Lavinia aged 9 months.
