Stephen Acland's Story
Memoir of soldier who did not shoot
Stephen served in Mesopotamia between 1916 & 1919. He was a sergeant in charge of stationery at Basra & was awarded the Mititary service Medal & mentioned twice in dispatches. He wrote a 320 page diary totalling about 67,500 words which has been transcribed to digital form. This is illustrated with the photographs he took himself with a small box camera showing his great interest in the lives of the local people & their families.
