Frederick Wallace's Story

During her engagement to my father Mum corresponded with Dad's brother Fred serving overseas with the King's Own Scottish Borderers. Fred sent her a letter on the day before he was killed in action.

He described the awful wet weather - "I have been wet through off and on for over a week. The last two days I have been wet through all the time ". He continued - " We have had plenty of marching again since last writing and then went up the line. It was a miserable wet time".
