joseph's Story
This is my Gt Grandfather Joseph Hateley
no one in our family knew about him until I decided to research him.I looked in liverpools picton library in his local regiment.I then rang the CWGC and when the lady could tell me josephs wifes re marraige name fallon, I nearly fell off the chair.Joseph had had his own grave for 83 years and no one knew even though he had an inscription on his headstone.shortly after a friend and I travelled to Bethune ,Pas de Calais to find him. What a moment I shall remember it forever his name jumped out to me .I made him a promise that he will never ever be forgotten again as I have told my children and I am sure they will tell theirs.
I have since been back to visit his resting place with my mum.As Gt Grandaughter and Grandaughter we travelled on a pilgrimage with the K.O.Y.L.I & L.I ASSOCIATION and a member of the organisers played the last post and the revallie at our grandfathers and every other grave or memorial. What a moving scene you cant help shed the tears.
Joseph I promise you ,you will nevr be forgotten again remebered in our hearts love from gt grandaughter Carol xxxxx
