VICTOR's Story
Victor Maslin Yeates, my grandfather, was a WW1 Sopwith Camel Pilot with 46 and 80 Squadrons. His novel Winged Victory is widely considered to be one of the classics on aerial warfare in the Great War. This work relies heavily on his own experiences of flying on th Western Front in 1918 during the German 'March Push' and the Allied offensive in August. Victor completed 248 flying hours in Camels, crashed twice, was shot down twice and survived.
VICTOR YEATES
Victor succumbed to tuberculosis, attributable to the strain of combat flying, in 1934 at the age of 37
