Gordon's Story

Gordon was born 28th May 1894 at 3.45pm, his twin sister Margaret being 15 minutes older. They attended Watersheddings School. He worked as a Cotton operative at the Majestic Mill Waterhead. He joined the TA 22/1/1912 at Lees Drill Hall, West Riding regiment. 1209 Pte Gordon Crick1/7th Duke of Wellington Regiment was killed on 18th August 1915 in Flanders, regimental diary simply states just that: 'He has no known grave.' His name is on panel 20 of Ypres memorial, Menim Gate, Belguim.

Gordon and Margaret were the youngest of 11 children and he was the only to die. Margaret not only lost her twin but also her fiance, she lived to 80 but never married.
