William Henry (Harry)'s Story

William Henry (Harry) Weston joined the 1/4th Battilion of the Royal Leicester Regiment in Sept 1914. He was 19 years of age. Harry was assigned to the Royal Medical Corps. Following training his regiment landed in France in early March 1915.

When we boarded the boat to France none of us thought we would ever see home again

He first saw action in the spring of 1915 at Ypres. Harry saw action on the Somme in July 1916. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in Sept 1918 and commenced training as a pilot/observer for the Royal Flying Corps. Harry's discharge came in 1919.
