Andrew's Story
My Grandfather served with 1st Seaforths (8428 Pte) in India and trained as Mounted Infantry at Bangalore in 1903.
Served with Mounted Infantry in Somaliland 1903 - 1904.
Discharged from 2nd Seaforths at Edinburgh in September 1908.
Recalled to 2nd Seaforths 23 August 1914.
He was at the Somme in 1916. Transferred to Royal Engineers (156462) 1 June 1916 and served with 252 Tunneling Coy for rest of war which he survived.
My first memories of him were when I was about 4 at beginning of WW2 when he was Head Air Raid Warden in our village and he taught me aircraft recognition in the wardens headquarters!
