Ernest Arthur's Story
My Grandfather was conscripted at the age of 33. He was initialy in the Wiltshire Regiment, but on arrival in France was reassigned to the Somerset Light Infantry, and given a different service number. He was, I believe, captured during the last big German offensive in March 1918. He died of dysentery in Asfeld Hospital Sedan on 17th May 1918. He is buried in the Sedan ( St Charles) Communal Cemetery. My Grandmother was not to find out about his death until 2nd July 1919.
