George's Story

I never met my great grandfather as a child. I am told he was a big strong gent, quietly spoken, and he never spoke about his war service. He won the Military Medal for gallantry as a stretcher bearer in 1917 in Flanders with the Royal Field Artillery. After the war he served as a stretcher bearer with the St Johns Ambulance. I am researching his war records as a continuing exercise. He survived the war and is never forgotten.
