Albert George's Story
My Uncle Bert
Bert enlisted in the Terratorial Middlesex Regt. in 1911,Sent to Gibralta in August 1914. Went to France Feb.1915. Wounded in the 1st Battle of Ypres May 1915 [Head wound],returned to England.Returned to France 1916 and was wounded again on the Somme June 30th [Shattered arm]. Returned to England to hospital. Married Dec.31st.1916 to Kathleen Smith,retuned to Belgium March 1917 and was wounded in Dickkibush May 28th 1917,sent to Remy Sidings Casualty Station[Canadian] and died the next day. Bert was a machine gunner.
