Thomas William's Story
Visiting the graves last year was a haunting but nevertheless special experience that I will never forget, I'm trying to find out more about my great Grandad and the experiences he suffered.
The irony that this war was to end all wars, yet his son would storm the beaches of Normany and be in the first group to liberate Bergen Belsen. When it happened again, I only pray that my generation and that of my children, won't have to go through the same thing.
Other memories
Learning more about The North Staffordshire Regiment and the experiences he must've gone through has really brought home the horrors of The Great War, I have the upmost respect for my great grandad. I'll be telling my children about him and what he and his friends gave for us.
Thomas William Kelly was a victim of mustard gas in 1917, he survived but later died in 1944 as a direct result of his injuries,
my great uncle said "he always had that damned cough"
