Granville Thomas's Story
Granville died long before I was born in 1946, but he served his country faithfully.
Granville was my grandfather's older brother. They were orphaned in 1893 when their father died. The six children all went to relatives, except the youngest daughter Veiva who went to the Wheatenhurst Workhouse; Bessie went into service and my grandfather chose to be brought up by Barnardo's. Granville lived with his grandfather and became a grocer's assistant. He married Rosa Edith Hadley and they had one son Arthur Walter in 1904. I have no photos of Granville or his family but perhaps someone will read this site who is related through Arthur and get in touch.
