Eoin's Story

a lost soldier

My wife and I visited the village of Morvillers in the France-Comte area of south east France in july,to place flowers on my uncles grave in the French national cemetary in Morvillers. This cemetary contains 150 french graves and one British grave-my uncles. He is the furthest south east of any British First World War grave in France. We do not know why his grave is there and cannot find out as his records are among the 75% of inlisted mens records which were destroyed in the blitz. It was an emotional moment for myself and my wife to be the first members of the family to visit the grave after nearly ninety years.
