Albert's Story
Albert Smith fought with the Royal Field Artillery 63 bty as Acting Bombardeer 29360 at Kut-El-Amara in Mesopotamia. Taken prisoner and force marched into Turkey where he died in a P.O.W. camp of enteritis on 28th August 1916 at the age of 33.

Exact location of the camp is unknown but his remains are now in the BAGHDAD (NORTH GATE) WAR CEMETERY, Iraq.Grave Reference: Plot XXI. Row F. Grave 50.
I did not know Albert but as a child I wondered at his war medals. The journey to discover his story has been very fulfilling.
