Thomas's Story

Thomas Ware was my great uncle, I inherited 2 of his medals and sought to find out more about him as I felt it important to honour his service and lost of life by displaying his medals.

Awarded the military medal at fight for High Wood at the Battle of the Somme

Thomas grew up in Midland Road, St Phillips.

I found out that Thomas earned a medal for bravery, the military medal, which he earned at The Battle of the Somme - I am not sure where this medal is and none of the family possess it.

After doing a lot of research I found out he died of injuries in Egypt, where he is buried.
