Florence's Story
My grandmother, Florence May Bull, joined the Women's Royal Air Force and worked at the Pay Office in Woking, Surrey. She was only there for a year and left to get married to George Bessey who was in the Royal Navy, on the Queen Elizabeth. They met through Florence's brother, William, who brought George home on leave with him one weekend.
I only found this photo a few months ago and she looks so young. It's difficult to comprehend what they went through, I don't suppose they understood it themselves. I'm very proud of her for the small part she played.
