Robert Railton's Story
Robert R Pratt was awarded the DCM for conspicuous gallantry when his platoon officer and the bombing sargeant had become casualties during an attack. He rallied his men and consolidated his position under heavy fire at close range. During the night he brought in two wounded men. Robert died of wounds on 11/6/1916 and is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium. He was my second cousin.
