Frederick John's Story

Born 1897 in Wyck Rissington, Gloucestershire. His parents were John and Elizabeth Cairns. Before he joined the army he was an Agricultural Labourer. He joined on 16 May 1916 age 19yrs 5 months. He was posted to the Royal Artillery (Garrison) and trained to be an Anti Aircraft Gunner. His service number was 371417. He was firstly posted within in England before being embarked on a ship at Southampton on 8 Nov 1918 for France where he was attached to 10 Anti Aircraft Battery. He was later demobbed from the Army 26 Jan 1919.

Fred was my 1st cousin 2 x removed on my dad's line.
