Percy Frank's Story

Survived in France

Born Nov 1897 in St Clements, Oxford, Oxfordshire. His parents were James and Daisy Barnard. Before Percy joined the army he was a Brewers Carter in Oxford. He joined the Army Service Corps at Oxford on 10 Oct 1916 aged 18 years and 11 months. Soon after this he was transferred to the 6th Battalion Worcester Regiment. His service number was 49531. His military records show he served in France 15 Jan 1918 to 7 Jan 1919 and also for a brief spell in Italy from 13 Jan 1918. He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal and was de-mobbed on 3 March 1919. His discharge papers and subsequent letters re his pension state he served finally in the 1/8th Worcester's. Percy was my Great Uncle on my dad's line.
