William's Story

Born 1884 in Garford, Nr Marcham, Berkshire. His parents were Phillip and Harriet Moss. Before William joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment at Woodstock, Oxfordshire he was a Horse Team Person on the farms. His service number was 28874 and he was serving in the 2nd/6th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment when he was killed in action on 31 March 1918 on the Somme near Albert. His body was never found or never identified and now he is commemorated on the Pozieres memorial near Albert, France and also inside Wootton Church, Wootton, Oxfordshire, on their memorial to the war dead.

William was Great Uncle on my mum's line.
