Langford's Story
Langford Wild - a 19 year-old accountant's clerk from Beverley in East Yorkshire - joined the Household Cavalry in January 1913. He left for France on the 16th August 1914 as part of the Household Cavalry Composite Regiment, later rejoining the 2nd Life Guards when the Composite Regiment was disbanded in November 1914. On the morning of the 6th February 1915 he received a gun shot wound to the head - caught by a German sniper - and was transferred to a field hospital. He died from his wounds at 7.30 that evening.
