Albert John's Story
Private Albert John Stevens died at Le Sars, the Somme, on 7th October 1916 aged 20.
He was my grandfather and left a wife and 3 yr old daughter. He was an irondresser in Handsworth, then Staffs, now Birmingham. His Stevens family had originally moved from Billesley Common, Kings Norton, into Bordesley and Small Heath, Birmingham and then to Handsworth. The family had three generations of bricklayers.
