Christopher's Story
Christopher (Christy) was my Gran's brother and my Great Uncle. The first memory I have of ever hearing about him was when I was about 8-9 yrs old, my Gran was watching the rememberance service in George's Square Glasgow on tv and I saw her crying and saying very quietly "they are all broken soldiers now". When I went to her and asked her why she was crying she said it was because her young brother had been a soldier and had been killed, so because my Gran was sad I was as well. But that day stuck in my mind, and now with no Gran to help me and no photo of him to put up here, I decided to do my family history,and this is what I have managed to find out.

Christopher Hepburn burns joined the 6th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1915 service no.11908. He went straight to France after training, he then became a streacher bearer. He moved about somewhat for a short time, then he was then sent to Loos where on the 16th of May 1916 he was shot by a sniper, he is laid to rest in Vermelles cemetery. I hope to go there soon to visit and lay a wreath .....for my Gran... And for my great uncle who has worked his way into my heart.
