John Edgar's Story

My uncle went to France with his regiment the 2nd/4th Lincolnshire in February 1917 and was one of the lucky ones to get home alive nearly two years later. He was involved in several front line actions along with his regiment, including being awarded the DCM for bravery while leading a fence cutting operation and getting all his men back safe under fire.

He never talked about the war but in tracing his war history I have come to realise and appreciate the sacrifices made by him and many others in the defence of his friends, family and country.

Along with my other uncle who fought in the 2nd world war in India and Burma, He will not be forgotten by me or my family.
