Charles's Story

My mother often use to tell me that to the best of her knowledge, Grandpa was killed at "The Battle of the Somme" sadly though, according to one of his comrades who later recounted the moment to Charles's family all that remained of him was a pair of smouldering boots.

The same Charles Brooks as entered by Michael Brooks. Likewise a Grandpa I never knew.

However I feel proud (like so many do) for the sacrifice Charles paid for his King and Country.

The only memory of him his youngest daughter ever had. Florence was born 1/3/1915.
