Francis's Story
Another Durham miner, who volunteered. Francis was the son of John and Charlotte Harvey of Crook, County Durham. He enlisted in the DLI in 1914. In October 1917 he was killed at Passchendaele. His body was never found and he is commemorated on the Tyne Cott Memorial in Ypres. My husband Jim and I found his name on the memorial, by sheer chance, in 1990.
A brother of James Harvey, who survived the war. Nephew of Michael and James Benedict Harvey
