Michael's Story

Michael came to England from or around Kiltimagh Co Mayo. His wife Mary Anne was also from Kiltimagh. They married in Wigan, Lancashire in 1913. Michael was killed in the first days of war 26/08/1914 and is buried in Esnes Cemetery. Tragically Mary Anne was pregnant and their son John was born after Michael died. As far as I am aware Michael did not know he was to be a father.Further tragedy struck his widow when young John died at the age of six.
