Felix's Story

Private Felix Martin was the son of Patrick and Elizabeth Martin. He descended from Irish immigrants, on both sides of his family. He was the third brother to serve in the war and , unlike his two brothers, was conscripted. All three brothers joined different regiments and miraculously all survived. Brother Patrick was in the Tyneside Irish, brother Francis in the Royal Field Artillery and Felix in the Durham Light Infantry.
