Francis John's Story
Frank (Pop) Purver enlisted, Bognor on the 14th of December 1914 ( I wonder what was said by his wife Nora just before Christmas? ) especially as they had a 18 month old daughter (my wifeÂs mother).
After training, the 13th went to France and fought at the battle of the Boars Head where he was badly wounded in the arm. After a spell in hospital it was back to France with the 7th, wounded at Monchy Le Preux he then transferred to the 9th Battalion the Royal Sussex.
Just as the war was ending he was wounded once again. Demobbed with a small pension he lived a full and happy life in there little 2 up 2 down in Steyne St. Bognor.
