Thomas's Story

5914 Private Thomas Pennington was the son of John and Letitia Alice Pennington of New Ferry, Birkenhead, Cheshire. He served overseas with 2/6th Battalion, The Gloucestershire Regiment during the Great War. His first engagement was against German positions around Fromelles and for 2/6th Gloucesters the attack was a disaster, with many casualties, including Thomas Pennington among the dead. To me Uncle Tom was just a name but, like so many others, it must not be forgotten.
