Henry William's Story

Henry George my grandfather died at the Somme in August 1916. I am told that he was not the best of husbands however, he did his duty and died for his country and along with all the others that died in that futile war is therefore a hero.

My grand mother must have known he was a troubled man and forgave him because she had this verse inscribed on his grave stone.

Thy toils are o'er

Thy troubles cease

From earthly cares

In sweet release
