Ernest's Story

The day sometime in late 1916 or early 1917 when a young sensitive man left his employment in a local store to join the ARMY. After training went into the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and was killed during the Battle of Arras April 24th 1917

Known only unto God his name appears on the Memorial to the Missing at Arras and on the WW1 memorial in Dublin

He died without ever seeing his daughter Beryl who is living now in Leceistershire

He was the oldest brother of my dear grandmother Winifred.
