Arthur Herbert's Story

We have a framed embroidery of the Hampshire Regiment badge, written on the back,

My grandfather Athur Chance was a builder and ran a small business, initially with his brother Walter, in Fareham after the war.

"For Kathleen Dorothy Chance (my mother) to be handed down.

Hand stitching by Daddy Athur Herbert Chance (private) made in Netley Hospital when wounded in left hand and left foot by gunshot on the Cambria (sic) front near Marcony (? Marcoing) while serving with the 2nd Hampshire Reg. in the year 1917 on the 29th November. AHC
