Patrick's Story
Patrick worked at Brancepeth Colliery and joined the 26th Tyneside Irish (Northumberland Fusiliers) on 30th November 1914. He was sent to France and shortly before the 1st July 1916 he met his brother Frank, who was serving in the Royal Field Artillery. He suffered gunshot wounds on October 16th 1917 and was discharged on 3rd January 1918.
A devout Roman Catholic, who volunteered shortly after the beginning of the war.
