William's Story

William Quinn served as a private with the 2nd Btn Royal Irish Fusiliers and was killed in action at the Battle of St Eloi, south of Ieper/Ypres on 14th March 1915.

He was 20 years old. Older brother Matthew was killed in the war 5 months earlier and his other brothers were James, John and George.

He has no known grave and is commemorated at the Menin Gate Memorial.
