Abert's Story

My Grandad Albert (known as Peter to his family) served on minesweepers at Harwich during WW1. He performed guard / watch duties on the U-boat fleet when they surrendered in Harwich harbour.

In WW2 he served with the Auxillary Fire Service at Thames Haven during the Blitz. Post war he worked on the railways at Parkeston Quay until his death.
