Ernest George's Story

My Uncle, Private 30335 Ernest George Bartholomew 1899 - 1986

served in the East Yorkshire Regiment during WW1. His elder

Brother Sergeant Henry Frederick Bartholomew was K.I.A 13th

July 1916 in Trones Wood during the battle of the Somme. His cousins also Uncles', Bombardier William Charles Ovenden, Royal Field Artillery K.I.A 20th January 1918 and Private George Ovenden 9th Lancers have been listed and remembered on the Remembrance Wall.
