Thomas's Story
He joined up to be with his Hero brother John Clarke who died 13/08/1917 at Ypres serving with the Prince of Wales Leinster Regt 2nd Bn. I dont know why Tommy is not recorded on the MENIN GATE MEMORIAL. His Parents are Luke Clarke and Margaret Hall.
Tried many times to join up as a 14 year old tried many times but was rejected each time, eventually one of the other recruits advised him to black his face. Next time with a blacked face he was in. Too late to catch up with Johnny who had already sailed for Belgium he never saw him again. Killed somewhere in Belgium. He is my Grans youngest brother known as Tommy.

Tommy was born in Mt Mellick Kilmalogue, Co Offaly, Eire
