Henry's Story
My grandfather survived the war but suffered the ''shaking disease". He lived at 136 East Street in S.E.London. My grandmother's brother William Warwicker was killed in action in 1917. His grave is in France and was visited by his g gr grandson Graham Ball.
My mother says that the doctor kept telling Henry to claim his pension as was right, but he refused saying his comrades did not so he would not. He brought up 12 children as a wireworker. My mother doted on him. We visited, in the 1940's/50's when I was quite small. He called me 'little billy' I do not know why. He was always in the front room with his bed and a fire. That is all I know.He died of a blood clot on the brain but had suffered since his return. He spent 6 mths in a sanitorium when he returned. That is all I know.
