James's Story

James George Dougherty was killed on 13th November 1916, at the age of 19. The last battle of the Somme. He held the military medal. He was the only son of James George Dougherty and Mary Ferguson Ralston Stewart Dougherty.He joined the Royal Scots as a boy soldier at the age of 13 and was recalled to the colours at the outbreak of war in August 1914. He was killed at Hamel and has no known grave, he commemorated at Thiepval
