Private Francis G.'s Story
Francis was the first of our family to enlist in 1914. Unlike his relatives, he joined the Durham Light Infantry. Francis was the son of John and Charlotte Harvey. He lived in Crook, County Durham. Enlisting in the Durham Light Infantry in 1914, he gave his life for his country at Passchendaele in 1917. He is remembered on the Tyne Cott Memorial, Ypres. His body was not found. His name is in the Book of Remembrance in the Durham Light Infantry Chapel in Durham Cathedral.
