Alexander's Story
Originally from Ballyclare,Northeren Ireland, Alec joned the "Fighting Skins" in Lisburn in 1912 and was K.I.A. on the 21st August 1916 at Gallipolli.
l
The objective on that fateful day was to take Hill 70 and after shelling the enemy positions for over an hour 19 officers and 750 other ranks attacked the enemy at 3.30pm and by 4.00pm they had taken there objective, but at a cost, at roll call later that day only 4 officers and 232 other ranks could answer to their name being called.
He will always be remembered as a hero who gave his life for King and Country just like the rest of the Luney family that laid down there lives for there friends, family and country in conflicts and wars from WW1 to Afghanistan and Iraq...
