Charles's Story

Charles was 37 years when he volunteered at the beginning of WW1. He died in action in Sept 1915. He is listed at Loos memorial in France but I do not know if he has a grave or not. There is a rather macabre family story that he took several steps after losing his head and that the soldier next to him didn't realise and was talking to him. His brother, William, was also fighting in France but he returned from the war although he died in his 50's as a result of being gassed.
