William Fredrick's Story
William Fredrick Hanson joined the 2nd West Riding Royal Field Artillery on 12 October 1914. Early in 1915 he was posted to the front where he was a driver and rider. His postings and transfers were numerous and, as a rider, he was involved in several fields of action. Throughout his life William treasured the memory of his wartime horse, Gordon. During WWII he acted as an ARP Warden and he was a lifetime member of the British Legion.
