Arthur Ernest's Story
Arthur Ernest Bright was a career soldier who started service in the Grenadier Guards and reached the rank of colour sergeant. He was then transferred to the Royal Fusiliers and proceeded through the ranks. In World War I he received a field commission and retired on the rank as acting captain with the Scots Greys. In his time he also served in the Boer War and was Mentioned in Despatches.
He was Mentioned in Despatches.
Arthur was the grandfather I never met as he died a few months before I was born. It has been an interesting journey tracing his army records and contacting so many helpful people on the way.
