William George's Story

Enlisted August 1914 and proceeded overseas October 1914. He died on 16 May 1915 aged 21.

William George Gomme was the eldest son of William George and Elizabeth Gomme. He enlisted August 1914 and proceeded overseas October 1914. He died on 16 May 1915 aged 21 and is remembered with honour on the Le Touret Memorial. William George is my wifeÂ’s uncle who she never met but is remembered with pride. His parents were killed in the bombing in World War II on 1 September 1940 with their granddaughter Evelyn Allen.
