Ernest's Story

Ernest was a member of a cycling club and a territorial and became a volunteer to the London Regt where he was assigned to the 25th London Cyclists Battalion in 1914. After training in and around Sussex, they were sent to India with their bicycles and rifles strapped to the cross bar and had to climb the Kyber Pass on several occasions.

They served out the war in India returning to be discharged in 1918 - and his card marked as "disembodied" presumably meaning his regt was disbanded.
