George Leslie's Story

My Great Uncle Les was killed in action at Kut al Amara Mesopotamia now Iraq. His brother Pte 568 Harold Stanley Fleming (my grandfather) was hoping to join him but arrived two days after he had been killed.

Commonwealth War Records show he has a grave at Amara War Cemetery. He was in the 9th Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Sadly his family never knew where or how he had been killed or where his body lay to rest. I have been able to research this small amount of detail so that he is no longer lost or forgotten. A brave soldier may he now rest in peace.
